They say that English Bulldogs are people-oriented as a breed and they actively solicit human attention. Horatio Nelson had the very same characteristics, so hence the name, Nelson. In addition, this pooch is courageous and likes to lead from the front which are also attributes akin to the famous British admiral. The similarities go on and on – they both suffer from sea-sickness (yes, amazing for a Royal Navy commander!), sometimes disregard ‘orders’ and have a penchant for the ladies.

Fortunately for Nelson the Pooch, he has both his eyes and all of his limbs. It is rumoured that Horatio Nelson sometimes sailed with a pet cat, named Tiddles and was even present at the Battle of Trafalger. There is no way that this dog was ever going to be named Tiddles!
